This weeks Ride of The Week winner is Ryan Sidock! Ryan is the driver of the “Cherry Bomb” Corvette owned by Robert Breen. Ryan grew up in a motorsports family and his father Jerry got him into racing at a young age. Ryan has now been drag racing for 25+ years and he races some of his family’s vehicles as well as racing others acting as a “Hired Gun” for Robert. Back in June 2018 they had sold their previous car and were looking for somewhere to put their motor, that’s when they stumbled upon a 2003 Chevy Corvette on racingjunk.com. The Corvette was a Candy Red full tube chassis chrome moly car that was in showroom condition just waiting for a powerplant. Once they got the car they went to work, putting their old proven motor into the chassis and started putting the pieces together. The Corvette is powered by a 582CI engine which was built by Ryan’s father and paired with a dual stage Hornet 3 plate. That power is then transferred through a powerglide transmission into a ford 9” rear end and then put to the ground with some Mickey Thompson slicks. So far the car has gone 4.40s in the 1/8th and they are just getting started, its going to be one bad SOB when they turn it up! When we asked Ryan about what it was like driving the “Cherry Bomb” he said “This car just goes straight as an arrow! My job is the easy part!” Be sure to follow Ryan and “Cherry Bomb” on Facebook to keep up with their build!
