This week’s Ride of the Week winner is Bobby “Alex” Gardner with his ’84 Z28 Chevy Camaro. Back in 2012 Alex’s best friend found the car on Craigslist, with no image on the post and just a short description. They decided to go and check it out, after driving to the middle of nowhere in Missouri they had finally arrived to the small shed where the car was in. Car was in mint condition with just the transmission being torn out of it and a hay bale in the trunk, many people would of left. But like many car guys Alex saw potential on the Z28 and knew he could build a drag car from it. Alex’s passion with racing started at a young age, riding on his dad’s buggy and feeling the rush of wanting to go faster and faster. This went hand in hand with his passion of cars and his passion to work on something from the ground up.
This build didn’t happen overnight, Alex worked on the Z28 for 5 straight years putting in his time and money into it. With just your basic tools and no lift to work on it, this was a true garage build. The ’84 Z28 is powered by a 355ci small block with a BRODIX intake and a beautiful Nitrous Outlet Stinger III Plate System. The power is then transferred through a TH350 to a QP rear end on S71 wheels. Check out his car below!
